Evanston, IL and Buffalo, NY., March 31, 2022 — QuesTek Innovations LLC, a global leader in Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) technologies, and Sentient Science Corporation, an industry leader in advanced prognostic solutions, announced the execution of a formal agreement to expand Sentient’s DigitalClone® offering and QuesTek’s advanced materials to more customers in more markets.
“We now have the opportunity to develop strategies for our joint customers and introduce them to both Sentient’s software and QuesTek’s high performance materials and associated data,” said Dr. Jiadong Gong, QuesTek’s Chief Technology Officer. He added, “Our objective is to redefine how new materials are integrated, designed in and qualified for new applications.”
QuesTek and Sentient Science announced last year that their partnership would offer customers access to upgraded content, allowing DigitalClone® SaaS subscribers to upgrade and gain access to new libraries of advanced materials designed by QuesTek, including the high performance alloys: Ferrium® C61TM; Ferrium C64®; Ferrium M54®; and Ferrium S53® steel that are widely used in aerospace, automotive, and industrial applications.
“Our technology has been co-developed through the SBIR program in collaboration with the Department of Defense (Army, Navy, Air Force), Department of Energy, and NASA,” said Jason Rios, Sentient Science’s SVP/GM of Defense Operations. “Now we have the opportunity to quickly identify common customers that will be able to take advantage of this revolutionary product.”
DigitalClone® is a physics-based computational modeling and design framework that simulates the microstructure of different components and their behavior. It calculates internal stresses caused by different applied loading conditions, accumulates internal damages resulting in crack nucleation and propagation, and investigates the performance and life prediction. DigitalClone®-AM accounts for various additive manufacturing process parameters–such as laser power, scan speed, hatch strategy, layer thickness, and others–to generate highly accurate predictions of part-level distortion, residual stress, grain structure, and porosity.
DigitalClone® software possess unparalleled features, including but not limited to:
- Predictive Capabilities: it allows subscribers in these industries to virtually predict specific components and overall system lifing expectations
- Improvement of AVL (Army Vertical Lift) design
- Speed of Simulation: DigitalClone® can provide results in just hours compared to the weeks or months required to generate the same data using physical testing
“By combining Sentient’s DigitalClone software with QuesTek’s data, input, and offering into that system, it will enable existing Ferrium customers like Lockheed Martin/Sikorsky, Bell Helicopter and Boeing to accelerate the qualification of their gearbox system for their critical future vertical lift applications,” added Dr. Gong.
