Evanston, IL and Cambridge, MA, January 31, 2024 –
QuesTek Innovations, the primary operating arm of QuesTek International LLC, today announced key strategic results for the year 2023. Among these results were: initial release and subscriptions for QuesTek’s ICMD® Materials Design and Engineering SaaS platform; completion and new signings of corporate and federal Materials by Design® services engagements; and awards of three new US Patents for proprietary alloys specifically designed for additive manufacturing. By year-end 2023, QuesTek achieved important fulfillment outcomes in its multi-year transition to a Digital Materials Technology enterprise, and significantly enhanced its position as a privately held, cash-generating, debt-free, and strategically advancing technology business.
Corporate clients served in 2023 included Boeing, Chevron, Commonwealth Fusion Systems, Cummins, Edwards Life Sciences, John Deere, Norsk, Solvus, and Stoke Space. After its release on time and under budget in July, ICMD® subscriptions were secured with MIT, Daido Steel, and with QuesTek’s affiliate, QuesTek Japan. A joint venture with CTC-Itochu, QuesTek Japan is using ICMD® to efficiently deliver services engagements, just as QuesTek Innovations uses ICMD® internally. In this fashion, QuesTek Japan is currently supporting services engagements with MHI and Nippon Steel.
Federal clients served in 2023 included the Army, Navy, Air Force, NASA, DoE, and ARPA-E. For the Army, QuesTek continued to demonstrate its capability to build and manage custom supply chains to deliver operational prototypes with mission superiority based upon applications of QuesTek proprietary materials. QuesTek also engaged with America Makes and MxD to deliver additional advantages to US warfighters.
“By adding ICMD® to our services offerings in 2023, QuesTek increased contribution margins by up to 10% over plan,” said COO Bill Mahoney. “Our margin overperformance enabled us to self-fund incremental capabilities for our digital future, not only in additional functionality for ICMD®, but also investments in IT and cybersecurity infrastructure. Outcomes here included ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certifications, and migration to the Microsoft 365 GCC High environment, all pre-requisites to serve our government and corporate clients going forward. Further, our new patents add verification to QuesTek Materials by Design® and ICMD® technologies as proven enablers of novel materials design, development, and deployment.”
