We’re excited to share the latest updates to QuesTek’s ICMD® platform, designed with a clear focus on improving your experience and empowering your alloy design and analysis workflows. With a range of new features and enhancements, these updates ensure a more intuitive, efficient, and powerful user experience.
Improved Visualization Tools for Seamless Data Analysis
One of the major upgrades to the platform is the completely redesigned plotter, enhancing your data visualization experience. The new plotter allows you to create multiple instances of each plot type and easily switch between light, dark, or auto themes, providing flexibility for different working environments. With an intuitive color picker and a more informative interface, you have greater control over your visualizations, making it easier to interpret complex data.
All plot types can now be saved as ‘Saved Plots’ and reloaded later, enabling efficient revisits and edits to your data analyses. Additionally, a new Table plotter allows you to organize data from models into tables with features to sort, filter, and pin columns, making it easier to analyze and present your findings. The integration of qualification tools like the Histogram and AIM plotters into the Alloy Design Toolkit further allows you to propagate and analyze uncertainties, enhancing your decision-making capabilities.
Streamlined Job Management for Enhanced Workflow Efficiency
These updates also bring significant improvements to job management, making your workflows smoother and more efficient. You can now copy jobs across designs without inheriting results, simplifying the process of replicating and refining previous work. The new Batch Bayesian Search algorithm speeds up calibration tasks by evaluating multiple points in each iteration, making optimization of resource-intensive models like CALPHAD faster and more efficient.
Furthermore, the platform now supports Axis Propagation, allowing results with specific axes (such as time, temperature, or percent solidified) to be seamlessly passed into another model. This enhancement facilitates more comprehensive analysis and integration of results across different models, saving you time and effort.
Advanced Modeling Capabilities to Broaden Your Analysis Potential
ICMD® now offers several new models and updates to enhance your modeling capabilities. The addition of a Phase Diagram model into the Alloy Design Toolkit allows you to visualize binary and ternary phase diagrams within user-defined design spaces. New diffusion models, such as Homogenization and Carburization, enable time- and spatial-dependent process optimization, offering deeper insights into material behavior.
Updates to existing models expand their applicability: the Recrystallization Model now includes support for nickel alloys and FCC steels, providing more accurate predictions of static recrystallization kinetics. The new Burn Resistance Model helps estimate the oxidation resistance of Ni-based superalloys, and Time-Temperature-Transformation (TTT) Models have been added to model key phase transformations in steels, including austenite to ferrite, pearlite, bainite, and martensitic transformations. The Pitting Resistance Equivalent (PREN) model further aids in evaluating the corrosion resistance of stainless steel alloys, crucial for diverse industrial applications.
Expanded Databases for Greater Predictive Accuracy
To complement these platform and model improvements, we’ve expanded our material databases to provide even more accurate predictions. The LightAlloy-General database now includes elements like Mg, Ce, and Nd, broadening its application in magnesium alloy design. The Ni-Superalloy-2024a database update enhances thermodynamic and kinetic assessments, delivering improved predictions for IN718 and other commercial nickel superalloys. Meanwhile, the Ti-General-2024b database offers expanded elemental selections and validates various commercial titanium alloys, supporting a wide range of design and analysis tasks.
A More Powerful, User-Friendly Platform for Alloy Design and Analysis
These updates make the ICMD® platform more robust, user-friendly, and versatile, equipping you with a richer set of tools to drive alloy innovation. With enhancements across visualization, job management, modeling, and databases, ICMD® empowers you to achieve more accurate results, faster.
